An historic and idyllic location is Upper Moutere village Upper Moutere - Lutheran Church(formerly Sarau) with the first Lutheran church in NZ. German settlers founded it in the 1850's. Worth a visit are the historic cemetery and the general local store with its delicious real fruit ice cream. In the Old Post Office they produce and sell Moutere Gold Pre-serves and over the road is a local potter and the Moutere Inn, the oldest licensed pub in NZ.

Neudorf, formerly a small settlement that had its own Wyperserfontein Hotel, kept the German name. The Moutere Hills is home to many award winning wineries.

The Abel Tasman National Park is world famous with its marvellous golden beaches and native bush. Boat cruises, walking, swimming and sea kayaking are the most popular activities.
